After I worked with Glenn, I sat down and talked with Joey Rolon, the one who made the styling from that photo shoot. I told him about my project and what I wanted to reach, he gave me the best advises, such a wise person who I’m pleased and grateful to meet. Among all the things he told me, I remember he said “No matter where you are, always work like a New Yorker”. It is such a true thing, one of the things I love about NY is that if you don’t work, the city eats you alive, it isn’t an easy place to handle… I guess that’s why they say If you make it there, you’ll make it anywhere.
I started to talk to Jackson de la Peña, a Venezuelan designer who knows many models all over the world and he told me I should meet Andree Baeza, a mexican model. It was perfect for me since I was looking for a guy “HOT FROM MEXICO”. I could not do ALEJANDRO without having a model with Mexican blood in front of my lens. So I meet Andree, he has a ripped body, big Latin sexy lips and a sweet personality.
The day of the photo shoot arrives and we meet at Funky Sexy Couture. I told Joey I wanted to show a lot of Andree’s body and he shows me these shoulders full of hair and spikes, hot boots and that glowing jewelry. Hair and make up was done there as well.
We went to a park located at the beginning of Washington Av. It might seem pretty simple but I wanted those stairs, It gave me the feeling from the beginning of the actual Alejandro video where they dances are marching. That was actually my inspiration, that part, the military feeling, adding SWEAT and HEAT to it as any Latin male would do.
It’s a dark song where Andree played a dangerous MACHO that Gaga doesn’t want around, even tho deep inside she does.
